The Malta Union of Teachers said comments made by Opposition Leader Alfred Sant at the GWU’s congress this week could “cause friction among unions”.
The council of the MUT was referring to Dr Sant’s comment that the GWU remained a privileged member of the leftist movement.
“Such statements may cause friction among unions, create tension among workers and will not help all unions to help their members’ cause,” the MUT said.
The union called on the Labour Party to clarify what Dr Sant wanted to say.
