A man yesterday evening pleaded guilty to defrauding a woman of Lm9,000 and was given some time to pay back the defrauded sum before his punishment is handed down.

Olaf Cini, 45, from Paola, pleaded guilty to defrauding Angela Hathaway of Lm9,000. He also pleaded guilty to relapsing.

Magistrate Giovanni Grixti postponed the judgement to 11 October, giving the defendant enough time to pay back the defrauded amount. Cini was granted bail against a personal guarantee of Lm2,000.

Police inspector Angelo Gafa prosecuted while Dr Kris Busietta appeared for the defendant.
