The new 2005/6 Malta national Table Tennis league ‘kidded off’ in grand style on Friday night at the University Sports Complex.

With an additional fourth division there are 13 simultaneous matches, a situation which creates a very exciting atmosphere for players and spectators alike.

In the first division, reigning champions Banks (ROL) successfully started this year’s campaign with a 7-2 win. Top seed Mario Genovese and former Malta champion Edward Baldacchino both winning all their encounters.

Early leaders in division one are the strengthened Batman ‘A’ Gymstars side as they won their match against G-Star 9-0.

These two teams meet on 21 October which promises to be one of the highlights of this season.
