The Hotspurs had an easy outing against a disorganised Floriana who lacked ideas and left many gaps in midfield. Pieta were a very co-ordinated outfit fighting for every ball and playing intelligent football.

Pieta started on the attack, Nathan Busuttil by Glanville Goodlip through but greens keeper Luca Grech foiled him with a timely sortie and he also saved a freekick shot by Sheldon Grech.

In a Floriana counter-attack, Vincenzo Brincat put Keith Cauchi through in the area but with only keeper Matthew Camilleri to beat drove out.

Grech put Daniel Gatt through but Luca Grech neutralised the latter's cross, from a Gatt cross Goodlip fouled to connect in the area, Nathan Busuttil square-passed to Gatt but he drove over Florian's bar.

On 29 minutes Pieta opened their account. A freekick shot by Grech was cleared to a corner and from Karl Pulo's flag Kirk Grech headed in.

On 35 minutes Cauchi should have equalised for Floriana but again he drove out when well placed from a Brincat through ball. Pieta doubled a minute later with Pieta have a using shot by Nathan Busuttil after a Goodlip through ball.

The first action after restart came from Floriana when Camilleri saved a header by Jamie Portelli after an Owen Bugeja freekick. The third goal came on 50 minutes when Grech put Goodlip through who scored from outside the area.

On 58 minutes Floriana were reduced to 10 men as Kevin Pace was shown the red card after a second yellow card. Karl Pulis scoared a fourth goal on 61 minutes after pouncing on a faulty clearance, and scored a fifth goal on 70 minutes after a Grech through ball and five minutes before the end substitute Matthey Schembri scored a sixth goal with a rising shot after beating a defender.

Newly-promoted Tarxien registered a second win from four games while Valletta have no points from three games.

The citizens had more if the exchanges in the first period. A flag kick by Matthew Schembri was cleared by a Valletta defender. A well-taken freekick by Nicky Vassallo found no takers in Tarxien's area and Tarxien keeper Ryan Cilia saved in two attempts a freekick shot by Clive Brincat.

City keeper Adam Debattista saved a Karl Mifsud header after a Schembri through ball and Cilia neutralised a Joseph Galea cross.

On 27 minutes Nicky Vassallo netted direct from a freekick but the point was disabled for offside.

Cilia saved on the hard-working Vassallo and foiled Galea with a timely sortie after a Neil Curmi through ball.

Valletta started on the attack after restart. Anatoly Tischenko crossed to Valter Caruana who headed over Tarxien's bar. On 53 minutes the wood work denied Valletta a certain goal; from a freekick by Caruana, a shot by Galea thumped the bar with Cilia beaten, Dylan Grima headed the rebound and Clia denied him with a driving save.

Tarxien forged ahead on 56 minutes. A freekick shot by Terrance Vella was partially cleared and substitute Michael Zammit netted the rebound with a rising shot.

In a Valletta re-action, Brincat put Grima through but he headed over the bar and a flagkick by Galea was headed away by a defender.

Tarxien doubled on 69 minutes, Schembri put Shawn Micallef through, assistant Chris Francalanza flagged for offside but the referee waved play on and Shawn Micallef served Joseph Cutajar with a through ball, who entered the area and was tripped by Elliot Lauri and Cutajar converted the resultant penalty.

On 73 minutes the woodwork again denied Valletta when the ball thumped the bar from a Galea freekick shot. Cilia saved another freekick shot by Galea.
