Dermot Galea and Keith Galea failed to reach the Minimum Qualifying Time of 1hr.56m requested by the Malta Olympic Committee, in a bid to qualify for the Commonwealth Games scheduled to be held early next year in Melbourne, Australia.
The strong winds which characterised the race, had a devastating effect on the aspirations of the two Maltese athletes, taking part in the Cyprus International triathlon, with Dermot Galea finishing the race in 2hrs.08mins.
Dermot finished the race in second place with his younger brother coming in fifth.
