The road network leading from the international airport to the capital city was given a new look over the past weeks with an embellishment programme that involved several entities led by the Resources and Infrastructure Ministry.
The work along the Luqa-Valletta route included the building of walls, new pavements and roundabouts, replacement of electricity poles, the installation of waste bins and of traffic signs, road markings and more. Most of the work was carried out by the Works Division within the ministry.
Visiting the site yesterday, Minister Ninu Zammit gave a detailed report of all the work that was carried out in several arterial roads that lead from the airport to Valletta – Civil Aviation Avenue and Council of Europe Road in Luqa, Garibaldi Road, Labour Avenue, Sir Paul Boffa, Industry Avenue, Aldo Moro Road and 13 December Road in Marsa, National Road in Blata l-Bajda, St Anne Street in Floriana and the war monument area outside the entrance to Valletta.
Mr Zammit thanked all the architects who drew up the plans and the workers who carried them out. He said that the project cost about Lm1 million and was finished according to the established plan.
