Bradstad and Sundridge C.C from just outside London have been outplayed by the local Marsa team.

On Thursday Marsa won the toss and elected to bat. The home team scored 261 runs from 45 overs. Michael Caruana held the innings with 105 runs not out of 93 balls including 18 fours.

Sarfraz Ali batted well to make forty six runs of 29 balls including five fours. Tim Wheeler made 18 runs while Jason Muscat made 17.

There were also 59 extras which did not help the tourists at all. D.Holden was the pick of the bowlers taking two wickets for 25 runs. Had the tourists held on to their catches they could have saved themselves over a hundred runs.

In reply Bradstad and Sundridge could only manage 176 runs. C.Nash top scored with 34 runs, while V. Renolds and T. Ervine both made 27 runs each. T. Rutter also made 22 runs. For Marsa, Gordon Hewitt was the pick bowler taking three wickets for nine runs. Marsa win first game.

On Saturday the visitors batted first and, after a reasonable start – V. Renolds (21 runs) and M. Toms (32 runs) – the rest of the batting order fell apart. Only a late display from the Rutter brothers saved the innings. The visitors only managed 157 runs.

Sagar Krishna was the pick of the bowlers for the home team taking three wickets.

In reply, the Marsa batsmen made light work of the run chase. Mike Smith (33 runs), Sam Dhandapani (32 runs) and top scorer Robert Krishna (60 runs not out). The Marsa batsmen made the required runs in the 23rd over. M. Toms was the only bowler who took wickets (3) for the visitors. Second win for Marsa.

On Sunday another century was made, this time by Ronnie Sacco, who scored a 95 ball 104 runs not out including ten fours. His brother Mark G. Sacco scored 31 runs and Mark Sacco made 36 runs being the main scorers in the total of 242 runs. In a gallant effort to keep up with the run rate the visitors lost early wickets which then left the lower order struggling.

M. Toms batted well for 45 runs and M. Rutter 21 runs not out. The visitors were bowled out for 121 runs. Kevin Krishna bowled well to be the most successful bowler for Marsa.

The fourth and final game will be played today at 10am.

On Saturday the winter league will commence with Marsa CC taking on Krishna CC at 12.30pm.
