This year’s edition of the Lotto teams tournament organised by the Vittoriosa Lawn Tennis Club is providing some very exciting moments for the six participating teams. The tournament is played on a round robin basis on two rounds.

After the first round, the first four teams play a knock-out to determine the finalists. The competition is sponsored by Gordon Asciak’s Tennis Promotions Co. Ltd.

With the fourth round coming to a close, Rinaldo D’Alessandro (Team D) is holding well on to his top position with 197 points, and at present is the sole leader. This team is closely followed by Team C, led by Doreen Bezzina, with 189 points. In third position is Dave Elden’s team A and Vince Vassallo’s team E, both with 184 points. Clint Cassar’s team F and Carmen Difesa’s team B are trailing behind with 184 and 182 points respectively.

With the tournament midway through and every captain fielding more or less balanced teams, every result remains possible. Good play, consistency and team spirit are the most likely factors that will determine the outcome of this tournament.

The finals will be played on The Model Shop court.
