The first round of the competition will come to en end this weekend when the remaining four matches will be played between today and tomorrow.
The winners of these four matches will join the winners of last week’s games – Floriana, St Patrick, Marsaxlokk and Hamrun Spartans – into the second round of the competition.
Today, in the first match, Pieta Hotspurs will be facing San Gwann and this will be followed immediately by the Mqabba-Msida SJ clash.
Tomorrow, St Andrew’s will face Marsa and Naxxar meet Senglea in two all-first division clashes.
All the matches are to be played at the Centenary Stadium.
Premier sides Pieta and Msida should be considered firm favourites to beat their first division opponents San Gwann and Mqabba respectively, but they will do well to keep in mind that St Patrick surprised Mosta last week.
Tomorrow’s matches should be keen affairs and all the four teams will be looking forward for a victory that pushes them a match closer to the quarter-finals.
