The Eurolinks Foundation (Malta) has organised a regional conference with the theme EU Funds for Regional Development.
The conference was attended by councillors, representatives from political parties and civil society and people interested in the subject.
The delegates were addressed by Department of Local Councils deputy director Lawrence Farrugia, Malta EU Information Centre head Carmel Attard and Zurrieq mayor Ignatius Farrugia.
Eurolinks Foundation chief executive Jimmy Magro said that the foundation had been created in 2005 to safeguard the interests of the Fifth Electoral District, which consisted of seven localities with strong economic potential.
Mr Magro said there were many opportunities in the European Union with regard to funding that had not been tapped.
He said the foundation would be providing information on what funding was available.
