This week Epoka (Super One 9.35pm, today), will take a look at the story of football abroad and in Malta.

Epoka will give football a new dimension making it interesting even for those who find the game boring or do not particularly like the game or follow it. The programme will try to trace the first roots of this fantastic game and where in the world it was played first and how. Viewers are in for some surprises!

Jackie Mercieca will be discussing how football started in Malta with Louis Micallef, Twanny Buhagiar, Benny Pace and Roberto Francalanza. Who were the first teams, what sports was practised before, and the impact football left, if it did leave an impact – on society, men, women and on relationships? Can one say that football in Malta is growing in popularity?

A feature not to be missed is the tribute to George Best, the late football star who has alas passed away a few days ago.
