Birkirkara and former Malta midfielder Chucks Nwoko is understood to be a target for champions Sliema Wanderers.

But it seems as if the Wanderers are not prepared to go for his services during the January transfer window. This is because Nwoko’s current contract at Birkirkara expires at the end of June 2006 and Sliema will obviously prefer to get him for free.

However, other teams might also be tempted to move in for Nwoko as Birkirkara are thought to be prepared to allow the player leave the club, though at a price.

The season was already a few weeks old when Nwoko signed a new contract with the Stripes till the end of June next year. So far, he has failed to command a regular first team place in Stephen Azzopardi’s selections.
