Dr Herbert Messina Ferrante renewed acquaintances with British Prime Minister Tony Blair recently during a CHOGM 'Sports Breakfast' meeting at the Radisson SAS Golden Sands Resort Spa, Malta.
Heads of the Commonwealth discussed the subject 'Money spent on sports is an investment in itself'. The meeting was organised by the Commonwealth Games Federation which was represented by its President, Mr Michael Fennel O.J. C.D. Amongst the speakers at this top-level meeting was Malta's Prime Minister Dr. Lawrence Gonzi, the Rt. Hon. Tony Blair, the Hon. John Howard, Prime Minister of Australia and Rt. Hon. Don McKinnon, Commonwealth Secretary General. Also present for this meeting were Ministers Dr Louis Galea and Dr Michael Frendo.
After breakfast and speeches were ended, Dr Messina Ferrante and the British Prime Minister renewed their acquaintances having met before on 2 May 1997.
Blair was happy to sign the photo which showed Dr Messina Ferrante congratulating him on the day that Tony Blair took residence at 10 Downing Street. The British Prime Minister also signed and dedicated the edition of an English newspaper dated 3 May 1997 heralding Blair's landslide victory, bringing an end to the conservative's 18 year reign of Parliament.
