Hibernians will be seeking to take the sole leadership of the Bank of Valletta Premier League today when they take on the rejuvenated Floriana.
It is the most important match on the programme at the Hibs Ground at Corradino. The card also includes the Pieta-Hamrun S. derby which should also be worth watching.
Hibernians will certainly be looking forward to overtake Sliema at the top and extend their lead over Birkirkara who surprisingly flopped against Marsaxlokk in midweek.
But the Paolites will have to be on full alert against the in-form Floriana who have regain their lost confidence since Dutch coach Jan Artz took over.
The Paolites will certainly find Floriana in a galvanized mood after the Greens beat Valletta 2-1 in the city and suburban derby last week, winning three precious points in the process.
With the two sides needing the points for different purposes, it is evident that a keen match will ensue.
The Pieta-Hamrun clash should also be another keen affair. Only one point separates the two sides in the standings with Pieta enjoying a one-point lead over the Spartans.
The two are fighting for the sixth place and an eventual Championship Pool placing in the second phase, meaning that they would avoid the Relegation Pool.
But there is still a long way to go and all points won will be very useful at this stage.
