Young people today are often viewed, judged and discussed in a negative way, criticised for their self-indulgent and pleasure-seeking lifestyles.

Unfortunately, not enough is heard of the thousands of selfless youths who give of themselves and their time to help others in need.

Maria Giuliana Fenech is such a youth: a Caritas volunteer who has recently won the “The Youth of the Year Award 2005” – an initiative organised by Fondazzjoni OASI, that recognises the important relationship between young people and volunteering.

On behalf of all at Caritas, I congratulate Maria Giuliana on winning this prestigious award, and thank her and all the volunteers for their amazing work with us.
