Graduation Evening for ITS students

A total of 69 students graduated at diploma level from the Institute of Tourism Studies earlier this month.

Two students graduated with a diploma in sports, leisure and recreation, five students in food and beverage service and 28 students in food preparation and production.

Another 17 students graduated with a diploma in accommodation operations, seven in hotel operations, while 10 students graduated with a higher diploma in hospitality management.

A total of 62 students graduated at certificate level, while 54 students were awarded their certificate at Level 1.

Awards were also presented as follows:

Josephine Apap – best student in the extended skill training scheme – award sponsored and presented by Kekoo Modi.

Andrew Schinas – best student in food and beverage service course – award sponsored by The Corinthia Group of Companies and presented by Rachel Pool.

Joshua Borg – best student in food preparation and production – award sponsored by E.C.B. Ltd and presented by Frans Magro.

Erika Mintoff – best student in accommodation operations – award sponsored by Le Meridien Phoenicia.

Christine Tellus – best student in hotel operations – award sponsored by the MHRA and presented by Justin Zammit Tabona.

Noeline Mangion – best student in hospitality management – award sponsored by SKAL Club of Malta and presented by Ms La Rosa.

Miuren Ziulkiarov – best foreign student – award sponsored by IMI Switzerland and presented by Dr Fsadni.

Karen Agius and Joelene Caruana – best integrated project – award sponsored by HCIMA and presented by Julian Zarb.

Miuren Ziulkiarov – best student’s effort on international internship – award sponsored by MTA and presented by Romwald Lungaro Mifsud.

Christabel Rapinett – best student’s effort – award sponsored by the ITS Board of Governors and presented by Mr Reginald Abela.

The Best Overall Student Award, presented by Dr Francis Zammit Dimech went to Josianne Borg.

During the presentation of awards, a food preparation and production student, Malcolm Ellul received the City and Guilds Medal for Excellence from City and Guilds’ marketing and business development manager for Europe, Stephen Baker.
