A man from Swieqi was mugged on Saturday evening as he parked his car in front of an establishment in Iklin.

The theft took place at around 8.45pm in Dun Karm Street in Iklin, when a 54-year-old man got out of his car and was stopped by a hooded person. The thief, who was armed, demanded the man hand over his attaché case and, after taking it, ran off in a Renault, driven by another person.

No one was hurt in the incident and the getaway car was found later in Censu Ellul Mercer Street, Iklin.

Duty magistrate Joseph Cassar was informed of the incident and appointed various experts to help in the ongoing investigation.
