Over 73,000 telephone calls were registered on the donation line system, installed for this year’s edition of the L-Istrina Campaign, Maltacom said yesterday. The hefty figure represents the number of donations pledged by members of the general public who phoned in on Maltacom lines to pledge a donation last Monday.

Besides fixed telephony, text messaging systems were open for donations too, while people also opted to make their donations personally during the fund-raising marathon.

This year, Maltacom will once again waive all fees due to the company for services rendered during L-Istrina Campaign.

This includes the 25c charge on each incoming call registered on the phone in donation system, installation charges for the donation lines and other fees.

The system will be open till 8 January – so that those who were unable to phone in during the L-Istrina marathon on Monday, still have the opportunity to pledge a donation towards this very worthy cause.
