The Ghaqda Kittieba Sports (GhKS), yesterday announced the finalists of the five categories of this year’s event.
As in the past five years this list was based on points earned by the athletes/teams during this year.
There are ten finalists in the sportman of the year award, the sportwoman of the year award, the team of the year award, the under-17 athlete award, and eight finalists for the official of the year award.
The list will be further reduced to five athletes per category. This will be done on 14 January as announced by the GhKS President, Charles Camenzuli.
Following this final shortlisting, the members of the Sportswriters Association will vote for the winners of each category which will be announced in the final evening on 28 January.
Charles Camenzuli said that as in the last edition, an ex-olympic champion will be present in the final presentation.

Sportwoman of the year: Sue Abela (Bowling), Charlene Attard (Athletics), Marcon Bezzina (Judo), Mary Lynn Bezzina (Athletics), Lisa Camenzuli (Tennis), Vicky Camilleri (Bowling), Maria Formosa (Archery), Angela Galea (Swimming), Stephanie Magri (Cycling), Carol Walsh (Athletics).
Official of the year: Peter Balzan (Waterpolo), Frank Camilleri (Basketball), Timmy Camilleri (Snooker), Alfred Ellul Mercer (Weightlifting), Leonard Falzon (Basketball), John Farrugia (Waterpolo), Julian Pace Bonello (Bowling), Bernard Vasallo (Basketball)
