After a stop of two weeks due to the Christmas and New Years festivities, the volleyball leagues continued with various games. The highlight of the weekend league games were the wins of X-Sel in the ladies league and San Anton in the men’s league, which meant that both these teams kept the pace with the other top teams.

Although X-Sel won with a score of 3-0 they did not have an easy game against CFK Fluer De Lys, with the latter managing to almost remain close to X-Sel in all sets, with FDL managing to have a good performance after being lead well by their setter, Claire Tonna.

San Anton also won by 3-0 against Fluer De Lys B, which means that San Anton are now second placed in the league table together with Kerygma Blues. After winning the league of the second division last year, San Anton have re-enforced their team with Keith Mercieca as setter and with the Italian player Adriano Corvaglia in the middle. In other games in the same men’s league, Kerygma Yellows suffered two defeats, the first one with the score of 3-0 in the derby against Kerygma Blues and the other one with the score of 3-1 against Aloysians Red.

Among other games for next weekend, the highlight is definitely on the two games that Aloysians Lipton have, one against Kerygma Blues and the other against San Anton. The result of these two games should have an effect on the top standings of the men's league, although there are still a lot of direct clashes to be played which will decide everything.

In the ladies league, Kerygma will also be in action with two difficult games, one against Paola Hibs Candy and the other one against Aloysians Playvolley, that are now occupying the second and third place respectively.
