Naxxar Lions claimed three precious points against St Andrew's in this bottom of the table clash. The Lions were by far superior to their opponents and the result was more than deserved.

Victor Bellia played a great game in midfield ably aided by Sciberras and Magri. Up front, Chima Dozie was in splendid form scoring two goals in the process, but also missing some glaring chances in front of goal.

Naxxar had a flying start and dominated from the early stages with Dozie hitting wide from close range, and with the same Dozie denied from a certain goal when his lob was cleared off the line by a St Andrew's defender.

St Andrew's failed to make a decent reaction and their first shot at goal came in the second period when Micallef's shot was blocked by Curmi.

Midway through the second half Naxxar had their best patch sealing the issue with two quick goals in succession. On 69 minutes following a fast break, Chetcuti passed to the unmarked Chima Dozie who missed a sitter in front of goal. However a minute later the Lions doubled the score when Gillbert Camilleri beat the offside trap to shoot low into the far corner, with the ball hitting the base of the upright before finishing at the back of the net.

On 73 minutes Naxxar put the issue beyond any doubt when Dozie scored from close range .

Senglea 2

Senglea returned to winning ways beating San Gwann following a series of defensive blunders by both teams. In fact all goals could have easily been avoided.

San Gwann did the early running, but Senglea were solid at the back and held the pressure. Slowly but surely, Senglea started to play the better football thanks mainly to Mark Marlow and Darren Grech, both in splendid form.

On 13 minutes Kenneth Abela missed an easy chance when he headed high an inviting Marlow cross. Clint Caruana had two efforts from the edge of the area missing the target.

On 32 minutes a Clint Caruana shot, involuntarily served Glenn Bonello, but the Senglea striker blasted high with an open goal at his mercy. On the other end an Antonio Saliba effort slightly missed the upright, and Sciberras missed the best chance when he shot inches wide.

On the resumption of play, Senglea forged ahead after nine minutes when a Marlow cross, was misjudged by the San Gwann defence and Kenneth Abela's header deceived Bartolo, for a rather soft goal.

On 68 minutes San Gwann were back on level terms as it was Senglea's turn to make a defensive blunder and Anizoba equalised from close range.

But the best was yet to come as on 76 minutes Senglea were back in front when Vince Camilleri's clearance hit Vella Critien for an incredible own goal.
