Kerygma recorded their second victory, and the double over Suns, but they had to sweat it out, as they were in arrears till midway through the third session. Suns went in front with a Melanie Pulis trey. In fact she sank three throughout the match. Suns had their maximum lead, after an 11-0 run, on a 20-9 score, in the second quarter, and although Kerygma recovered, Suns were still in front at the interval, enjoying a 25-20 advantage.

After the break Kerygma’s pressure made its mark, and a 17-0 run changed the result around, and Kerygma went ahead at last. After three sessions they were leading 34-29.

In the final quarter they extended their lead, but Melanie Pulis’ third trey kept Suns in the game. When Kerygma seemed to have the match wrapped up Suns came up with a Marion Azzopardi trey, to keep Kerygma waiting till the end, to gain their second league victory. It was Suns’ best showing this season.

This was a slow match at first, with Luxol managing to keep their early lead, and in the second session, although Naxxar were coming more into the game, the Violets still held the upper hand, to finish up ahead at the interval, on a low 21-17 score.

After the break Luxol increased their lead to double figures, but that seemed to be the signal for Naxxar to start to take command, and by the end of the third session they had come to within a 25-31 score.

In the final session Luxol simply fell away and Naxxar could control the rest of the match, going on to win comfortable.

Hibs had no difficulty against a depleted Loyola side.

The Paolites meant business from the start, with a 10-2 run. Loyola only had a partial reaction, and Hibs could increase their lead.

In the second session, with bench players in their ranks, Hibs could still improve on their score, although not in the same rate as before, with Christine Grima being the main threat to the Hibs’ defence. At the interval it was a 39-17 match.

After the break the Paolites really let loose, and an opening 21-0 run showed the disparity in the play. Loyola replied as best they could, including a couple of Ann Camilleri treys, but the trio of Lucienne Bezzina, Beverlee Zammit and Maria Desira wrought havoc in the Loyola zone, and after three sessions Hibs were 74-26 in front.

In the final quarter Hibs once more put some bench players on court, and Loyola managed another brace of treys. Other points enhanced their scoreline, making it more respectable, as Hibs wound down their offensive, already sure of the second spot in the table.
