Malta Independent Monday, 30 January 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

The Employment Services Division of the Employment and Training Corporation (ETC) has organised an information seminar for guidance teachers on the services offered by the European Employment Services (EURES).

EURES has been operating in Malta for the past year.

The seminar was addressed by head of the Employment Services Unit of the European Union, Johan Ten Geuzendam, who gave an overview of the function of EURES. The seminar was also addressed by the acting senior manager of the Employment Services Division, Raphael Scerri and by representatives of EURES in Malta, who explained the services and the events organised by EURES.

Since May 2004, about 5,400 people has made use of the consultancy service offered by EURES.

After the seminar, ETC chairman Dr Robert Tufigno and Mr Geuzendam presented two touch screen computers, known as “Job Banks”, to the University of Malta and the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST).

The Job Banks are easy-to-use touch screen computers that can provide job seekers with information on the job vacancies in Malta and in European countries. The ETC already has a job bank in each of its job centres in Malta and Gozo.
