Malta Independent Monday, 30 January 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

The Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses (MUMN) announced its programme of activities to mark the 10th anniversary since it was set up.

The union, which enjoys the support of 98 per cent of nurses and midwives in Malta, was set up on 19 September 1996.

The MUMN said yesterday that it will be organising a conference on women’s health on 24 February.

The following month, a seminar on health and safety at the workplace, will be held.

On 5 April, the European Federation of Nurses will be holding a two-day conference in Malta. Nurses from 24 countries will be taking part.

The Nurse/Midwife of the Year award will be presented in May.

During the summer months, the activities continue with a summer football league.

In September, the union will be organising a billiards marathon at Mount Carmel Hospital. Proceeds will be in aid of Dar tal-Providenza. A thanksgiving Mass will also be celebrated.

On 17 September, union members will be staging a three-act comedy at the theatre at St Vincent de Paul.

The final activity, a gala evening, will be held on 19 September.
