VISET Staff take up Kilimanjaro challenge

Malta Independent Monday, 30 January 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

The employees of VISET plc, the operators at Valletta Waterfront, will join leading personalities on 1 February to help raise money for the Kilimanjaro Challenge Project. The employees will not only be taking part in the “Served by the Stars” event taking place at the Waterfront’s Heat Diner, but will also giving up their time to help ensure that the organisation of the event runs smoothly.

The Kilimanjaro Challenge Project has already raised Lm26,000 of the Lm38,000 needed to fund the construction of a convent and medical centre in the Ethiopian village of Bulbula. The initial sum was raised by a group of 20 Maltese trekkers who recently reached the Uhuru Peak – the highest point in Africa at almost 20,000 feet.

Starting at 8.00pm, “Served by the Stars” will feature, among others, Bitterside, Ira Losco, Gianni, Moira Delia, Lou Bondi, Rachel Attard, Claire Agius, Andrea Cassar and the Liquorish team, Joseph Chetcuti, the Zinners team and Scream Daisy, all of whom will be serving patrons at Heat Diner throughout the evening. All the income on the night, which is being organised together with Keith & Co, will go to the Kilimanjaro Challenge Project

“‘Served by the Stars’ is certainly going to be a fun event which I am certain will also raise a lot of money for this excellent cause. Making sure the evening is a success also requires a lot of preparation and support on the night. VISET’s staff have not needed any encouragement to give up their time to help complete the Kilimanjaro Challenge Project. We have always encouraged a sense of social responsibility among employees and the response to this initiative has been notable,” said VISET’s chief executive officer, Chris Falzon.
