The Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses (MUMN) has accused Nursing Services Director Jesmond Sharples of libel over an article he wrote in reply to an interview with MUMN President Rudolph Cini carried in The Malta Independent daily.

Mr Cini and another eight of the union’s officials and members filed the suit against Mr Sharples. They claimed the letter Putting the patient first?, carried on 3 January, contained libellous and defamatory material. They are holding Mr Sharples responsible for any damages suffered.

Dr Chris Cilia filed the suit.
