GatoNegro Wines are to support the Malta Olympic Team for the next three years. Local agents Attard & Co Foodstuffs Ltd, Managing Director Mr Pierre Pellegrini Petit announced that “we are very excited to be the Official Wine Sponsor of the Malta Olympic Team and are proud to do our little bit in anyway that contributes to helping the Malta Olympic Committee strengthen its programmes for local athletes”.

Also present at the signing of the agreement was Dr. Kirill Micallef Stafrace, MOC Marketing Director who went on to say, “Every bit counts. All funds that the MOC generate are reinvested into creating specific programmes for Malta’s athletes and assisting the 47 affiliated sporting associations. With this sponsorship the MOC intend to collaborate with Attard & Co in organising fund-raising activities involving the sampling of GatoNegro wines at all MOC’s official functions. We thank them for seeing the value in supporting the Malta Olympic Committee and investing in our cause”.

Mr Pierre Pellegrini Petit, then went on to say that “we hope that the association with this label will mark the start of several unique initiatives; especially one that involves the general public’s enjoyment of GatoNegro wines which in return doing so will indirectly be assisting the Malta Olympic Team from now until the Beijing Olympic Games.

Maltese champions will also be celebrating their successes, achievements and medals on the return from the forthcoming Commonwealth Games, next year’s Games of the Small States of Europe and hopefully Malta’s first historical Olympic medal at the Beijing Games with a toast of champagne. Mr Pellegrini Petit then went on to further announce that a 15-litre bottle of champagne ‘Jacquart’, will be opened to celebrate their medal haul in style on return from these games!

Mr Marco Vella, Wines and Spirits Manager also present for the signing of the agreement congratulated the MOC on their recent organizing of the MOC Sports Awards and all the athletes who won an award. He went on to say, that this highly prestigious Gala Awards night and the esteem that the Olympic movement and elite athletes offer is one of the reasons for our involvement as the official wine sponsor. Our wines and especially GatoNegro is a direct parallel offering a prestigious wine; product sampling and sharing our wines at all official functions such as the MOC Sports Awards and as gifts is a key feature providing us with an ideal link. We hope to eventually launch a specific GatoNegro Olympic Label series which will bear labels designed using the MOC logo and providing a visual endorsement of our support and championing a good cause.
