On 30 March, the Eden Arena will stage another landmark event for the Maltese Islands when Deep Dish (www.deepdish.com), the Grammy Award winners, superstar dance act and producers of the smash hit singles Say hello and Flashdance will headline the first of a series of Masterclass Sessions planned for 2006, after the great success of the ones headlined be Paul Van Dyk, Tiesto and Paul Oakenfold in 2005.
This event is promising to be another milestone in the Maltese clubbing history as one of the most important names in the international dance and electronic music industry – will be coming to Malta , to perform an exclusive five hour set supported by Malta’s top DJ’s (Joseph Armani, J Joy, Ruby, and Miss Roberta).
The event is going to be organised by Fresh Music Agency (www.freshmusicagency.com), Malta’s leading Promotional team and artist agency responsible for events such as Paul Oakenfold, Faithless concert, Masterclass Festival 2003 and 2004 and Malta’s fastest selling dance event as yet – Paul Van Dyk live in Malta, among others .
As American leaders in the international dance music arena, Grammy-Award winners Deep Dish have become one of the most revered names in the genre.
Their plate is filled with a long-awaited new artist album on deck for release; 100-plus DJ gigs a year from Los Angeles to Lebanon; high-profile remixes for such artists as Madonna, P Diddy, Dido and Justin Timberlake, just to name a few; a flourishing business in DC, consisting of three record labels (Yoshitoshi Recordings, Shinichi Records, YO!) and a DJ agency – Bullitt Bookings.
Deep Dish are two of the most well-known and respected artists/producers in electronic dance music today. Back in 2001, they were honoured as Rolling Stone magazine’s #2 pick for the year’s “Best Dance/DJ Artist”. Ali “Dubfire” Shirazinia and Sharam Tayebi, the Washington, DC-based DJs known collectively as Deep Dish, first rose to prominence following the 1998 release of their groundbreaking debut album, Junk Science.
Since then, the two have spent the bulk of their time trotting around the globe at the request of the world’s most famous clubs.
Characterised by diverse and unexpected grooves, Deep Dish continues to enjoy mainstream success and underground respect.
In addition, Deep Dish ranked #10 in DJ Magazine’s (UK) Top 100 DJ’s reader’s poll for 2005 – a direct result of constant touring.
Just as active in the studio as the DJ booth, Deep Dish has been called upon to employ their innovative remix style to hits by top artists such as The Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson, Dido, The Pet Shop Boys, and N-Sync. So it came as no surprise when Madonna decided to get in on the act by choosing the guys to remix the debut single from her album “Music” (Maverick).
Resulting in an infectious dance floor hit, the reworked track won dozens of accolades, including a Grammy award nomination for “Best Remixer of the Year.” Madonna was so pleased with their remix, she invited Deep Dish to warm up the crowd for her one-off North America live show at New York’s Roseland Ballroom.
Finally, Deep Dish won their first Grammy for “Best Remixed Recording” for their take on Dido’s Thank You! in 2004.
Deep Dish has continued the fevered pace that has made them two of the hardest working guys in dance music.
They have provided music for a number of Versace fashion shows in Paris, Rome, and Milan. This summer they released their long-awaited artist album “George is On” (Thrive) and have also been touring non-stop, continuing for the second year in a row their highly successful bimonthly residency at Pacha Ibiza.
