Pending Cases in tribunals

Commissioner of Justice Dr Robert Mangion has the largest number of pending tribunal cases, Justice Minister Tonio Borg told Nationalist MP Jason Azzopardi.

Sitting in the Sliema Tribunal, Dr Mangion has 9,525 pending cases.

Next comes Dr Anton Farrugia Sacco, who sits in the Qormi tribunal, with 5,867 pending cases.

Dr Matthew Brincat, who sits in the North Tribunal, has 5,035 pending cases.

Registration of investments

The last time that a scheme for the registration of investments was opened, between April and June last year, a total of Lm117.2 million was registered, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi told Dr Azzopardi.

Nine per cent of this amount was actually repatriated to Malta.

Drugs and alcohol in schools

Four students aged 14 were found taking marijuana in two state and two Church schools, Education Minister Louis Gales told Labour MP Carmelo Abela.

Nine students from age 15 were similarly caught: five were found to be taking marijuana, one ecstasy and three were suspected of taking alcohol. The cases regarded eight state schools and one Church school.

At age 16, eleven students were involved: five were caught taking marijuana, one ecstasy and marijuana, and five were suspected of having taken marijuana. This involved 10 state schools and one Church school.

At age 17, three students were caught taking marijuana. All were in state schools.
