‘Tista’ Tkun Int’ Fined Lm1,500

Malta Independent Wednesday, 15 February 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 19 years ago

Tista’ Tkun Int was fined Lm1,500 by the Broadcasting Authority for running misleading advertisements, excessive credits and more than 12 minutes of advertisements within an hour on five different occasions last year.

This was one of the shows broadcast on TVM accused of breaching the Broadcasting Act. L-Ispijun was fined Lm200 for broadcasting a clip that offended public decency. This fine, however, will not come into effect unless another indecent clip is broadcast over the course of the series.

Ghada Nibda Zgur was accused of making no distinction between the advertisement portion and the rest of the show. The authority issued a warning, since this was the first time the show had breached the act.

The Broadcasting Authority also brought to TVM’s attention that bottles of wine were being shown on television before 9pm during an advertisement called Cellar Talk: Discover the World of Wine. The channel was ordered to stop showing these bottles of wine before the allocated time.
