The Louis Borg Cup this year is on a one-off races and the double fixture is only reserved for the final. The holders kept on track to defend the honour won last season, as they surmounted an arduous obstacle, which tured out right at the end. Siggiewi were unable to provide any game-ending excitement.

Pembroke were once again without Duncan Cuschieri. After a cautious start and a Pembroke lead it was Siggiewi's Peter Shoults who netted a trey. But Etienne Bezzina sank two for Pembroke, for a 9-3 lead. Siggiewi managed to climb back to level terms but it was Kristinn Baldacchino who put Pembroke in front after the first session.

In the second quarter Etienne Bezzina's trey and further points by Adrian Micallef made it an 18-9 game for Pembroke. Siggiewi recovered to get nearer again but Pembroke still held on to their lead and added on to it at the end of the session.

Half-time score at 24-17.

After the interval Siggiewi couldn't get to grips with Pembroke's intricate play and the cup holders could impose their style of play with Siggiewi getting the occasional basket.

Pembroke's overall height was a decisive factor as they were pulling down many rebounds. They also had a good ending to the session with a 10-1 run, and after tyhree periods of play Pembroke held a strong 42-24 advantage.

In the last quarter Siggiewi hit the right note. Confidence in their play brought them a 10-0 run and a slim chance. Pembroke rode the difficult period and stopped the slide.

When they extended their lead again it was all over and they could safely play out the remaining time, and make it through to the final.
