Simon Zammit and Duncan Bezzina will represent the Malta Billiards and Snooker Association in the IBSF World Snooker Grand Prix which will be held at Pontin’s in Prestatyn, North Wales between 21 February and 3 March.

At the moment, 38-year-old Simon Zammit is occupying third position in the MBSA Provisional Ranking list. For two consecutive years in 2004 and 2005, Zammit was part of the National A team that won the European Teams Championships. In 2002, he won his only championship in Malta and in the same year he was only eliminated in the semi-final of the European Snooker Championship.

One year later in 2003, Zammit was eliminated in the quarter-finals in the same championships. Simon Zammit’s highest competitive break was that of 112 in the 2003 European championships and his highest practice break is the maximum of 147.

Duncan Bezzina, who is only 25 years of age, is occupying fifth place in the Provisional Ranking list. Duncan was part of the Malta team that won the European championship in 2004. Way back in 1996, he won the National Under 18 championship and when he took part in the European Under 19 Championship in 1998 he managed to qualify for the top eight players where he was eliminated in the quarter-finals.

Bezzina’s highest record in the national Premier League was in 2003 when he finished in second place. In the 2004 European championship he qualified in the last 32. Duncan’s highest competitive break was that of 137 in the Premier League way back in 1999 while his highest practice break is that of 143.
