Snooker: New Record for wonder boy Thurston Grixti

Sixty two players have taken part in the prestigious Acqua Azzurra tournament.

Grixti won three consecutive matches 3-0, his last victim being Premier Division player Saviour Brignone.

Frans Mintoff also qualified for the last 16 stage after beating former Malta champion Richard Webb 3-2. Peter Schembri beat Manolito Grech 3-1 while Clint Grima beat Pio Ebejer 3-0.

Other players who have qualified for the last 16 stage are Alex Borg, the Malta and European champion, Guzi Grech, current Malta No. 23 and Arthur Cachia.

Two more matches are to be played this week. Tomorrow, Tony Mifsud takes on Chris Azzopardi while on Thursday, Richard Lewis plays against Malta No. 4 player Simon Camilleri. Both matches are to be played at the Balluta Band Club and start at 8pm.
