World Leading tenor Kaludi Kaludow in Malta Concert

Bulgarian tenor Kaludi Kaludow will perform famous opera arias and classical Italian songs in the concert for Europe by the Sliema band on Saturday, 25 March at the Sir Temi Zammit Auditorium at the University, Msida, at 7pm.

Kaludi Kaludow has sung in the world's most prestigious theatres including the Vienna State Opera, Munich, La Scala in Milan, Chicago, Tokyo, San Francisco, Tel Aviv and Helsinki, with leading roles in the operas Rigoletto, Attila, I Pescatori di Perle, Boris Godunov, Manon Lescaut, Aida, Andrea Chenier, Cavalleria Rusticana, Tosca, Elisir d’Amore, Prince Igor, and The Magic Flute, as well as in Verdi’s Requiem, under the baton of Claudio Abbado, Riccardo Muti, Fabio Luisi, Vance George, Christoph Eschenbach and Zubin Mehta, and complimenting world famous artists like Mirella Freni, Cheryl Studer, Placido Domingo, Nicolai Ghiarov, Renato Bruson and Sherill Milnes.

In this vocal and musical celebrity concert for Europe, the Sliema band under Mro Ronnie Debattista FLCM, will perform together with Kaludi Kaludow famous arias from Aida, Il Travatore and Tosca, together with classical Italian songs like Maria Mari, Musica Proibita and O Surdato Nnamurato.

On the occasion of the 125th anniversary since the arrival in Sliema of the statue of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, Kaludi will sing G Caccini’s Ave Maria, especially arranged by Ronnie Debattista.

The programme includes also the first performance of Vivaldi’s concert for two trumpets to be performed by Sigmund Mifsud and Joseph Chircop; selection from the musical West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein; a solo for flute Piccaroon Polka to be performed by Silvio Zammit, while the other attractions and gran finale include the famous song Granada, Nessun Dorma from Turandot and Mario Del Monaco’s landmark song Un Amore Cosi’ Grande.

The concert will be conducted with Cardenio Botti’s Sliema hymn and Beethoven’s Ode to Joy.
