Alternattiva Demokratika – The Green Party chairperson Harry Vassallo yesterday spoke about the importance the Green Party attaches to the artistic, cultural and sporting life in Lija.

Dr Vassallo stated that: “We have always worked to ensure that within each locality we have been elected, we have given our full support to local cultural and sport activities. We believe that such events and activities contribute towards enriching the social life of local communities as well as serving to boost civic pride.”

Edward Fenech, the Green Party’s candidate for Lija in Saturday’s local council elections said that: “This locality can already boast of significant cultural and artistic events. I intend to give my contribution in this sphere, as did my predecessor James Camilleri. Alternattiva Demokratika is also proud to have supported the local football club in its endeavour to have artificial football pitches that will serve not only the Lija football club, but also the students of the local government school.”

Mr Fenech added that: “It is vital that in order to strengthen the cultural and artistic aspects of Lija, a twinning programme with an equally quaint and architectural rich community in Europe should be a priority for the new council in this locality.”
