GWU Calls for concrete proposals

Malta Independent Tuesday, 7 March 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

The General Workers’ Union (GWU) has called on the management of the Central Bank to come up with a concrete proposal to justify the introduction of Performance Related Pay (PRP).

The union said it was not happy with the bank’s proposals, adding that the bank’s offer should take into consideration the arguments put forward by the GWU and the other two unions representing the employees.

The GWU said the union was not against the introduction of PRP as long as this was complemented by a financial package that was not inferior to what the employees received in the previous collective agreement.

It gave the bank until Friday to come up with new proposals, otherwise it would take what action was necessary to protect the interests of the workers, the union said in a statement.
