Mosta chalked their second consecutive win in the relegation pool when they beat Hamrun Spartans 5-3 in a spectacular match, with three penalties, and two red cards - both Hamrun Spartans players.

As the score implies both defences had a holiday yesterday, but the Mosta attackers were in a class of their own. Chibueze, Nwoko, Dyson Falzon, penetrated with relative ease the Hamrun defence, with Ivan Zammt and Magri Overend completely off form.

Matthew Bartolo was outstanding for the winners with continuous runs on the right flank, with Bilocca also giving his good contribution.

The Spartans are now in deep trouble, as Mosta have now joined them with ten points. Their defence let them down, and the two red cards did not help their cause either.

This was Mosta's first victory this season against the Spartans, as Charlie Agius' side now have all the chances to keep their status, as the relegation pool is evolving in a highly emotional affair.

Mosta had the early chances with Chibueze testing Cordina after a good run on the left. The same Chibueze was again the main danger for the Spartans' defence with two long distance shots, that the Hamrun goalkeeper saved well.

On 13 minutes Bilocca pounced on an Ivan Zammit defensive lapse, but again Cordina denied the Blues with a good save. A minute later Hamrun who were already without the suspended Gaetan Spiteri, lost Okoro injured, who was substituted by Nwankwo.

Mosta who were without Pio Scriha, took the lead on 19 minutes when Chibueze was brought down by Sadowski following another lapse by Zammit, with referee Sant awarding the penalty. Form the penalty spot Digger Okonkwo scored despite Cordina's attempt to save.

On thirty minutes in their first real danger, Hamrun obtained the equaliser when a Kevin Borg free-kick was not cleared by the Mosta defence and substitute Nwankwo fired home with the ball hitting the crossbar before finishing at the back of the net. Six minutes later Mosta were back in the lead when a harmless looking freekick by Nwoko perforated the Hamrun defence and Chibueze mad no mistake from five metres.

Five minutes from the break Okonkwo hit the crossbar, and scored from the rebound, but referee Sant disallowed the goal for a pushing infringement by the same Okonkwo. Dyson Falzon shot slightly wide from the edge of the area and in the second minute of injury time, Hamrun obtained the equaliser when from a Ryan Fenech corner, Stefan Sultana headed past a hesitant Matthew Farrugia.

The second half started with Kevin Borg creating havoc and Sultana's header going over the bar. The match took a twist seconds later when Ndubisi Ndah was sent off apparently for elbowing Chibueze. Mosta immediately took advantage of their superiority when they took the lead for the third time. Matthew Bartolo powered his way inside the area were he was tripped by Fenech. Mosta's second penalty was this time taken by Chibueze who sent Cordina the wrong way.

On 63 minutes Hamrun obtained the equaliser with the third penalty of the match when Spasic handled a Fenech cross and from the resultant penalty Stefan Sultana again levelled for the Spartans.

On 67 minutes Mosta were very unlucky when Chibueze's cross was headed by Bilocca against the base of the upright. Two minutes later Mosta were back in front with all the credits going to Matthew Bartolo whose irrsistible run was finished with a perfect pass to Okonkwo who hammered home.

With ten minutes to go Udo Nwoko ran through the Hamrun defence, only to be stopped by Magri Overend who was sent off for his second yellow card. Three minutes later Mosta scored the fifth goal against nine-man Hamrun when Philip Camilleri passed to Udo Nwoko who scored with a low shot.
