“Young people are both the architects and agents in designing their ways and means to meet contemporary challenges. Therefore the aim of the National Youth Day is to empower young people and encourage their participation in shaping our society,” Dr Louis Galea, Education, Youth and Employment Minister said on Saturday.
He was speaking during the opening of activities to mark National Youth Day.
The National Youth Day in Malta is annually celebrated on 21 March, today.
To mark this day a number of activities and events are being organised by young people.
The Education, Youth and Employment Ministry, together with the National Youth Council, the National Youth Information Centre (NYIC), the Commission of Children and other youth organisations are teaming up together to organise a programme of activities for this day.
The opening was followed with a training seminar for young leaders and youth workers regarding active citizenship – ‘Who Cares?’.
The activities come to an end on Sunday at Baystreet at 2pm.
