Labour leader Alfred Sant and party deputy Charles Mangion had a series of talks yesterday at the European Central Bank in Frankfurt, Germany, before departing for China.
The introduction of the euro, the implications on Malta’s economy and the eurozone were among the issues discussed with Lorenzo Bini Smaghi, a member of the bank’s executive board, Rainier Martin, head of the bank’s directorate on the economy, and other economists and financial experts at the bank.
Dr Sant and Dr Mangion also took the opportunity to explain the Labour Party’s position on the euro and other economic and financial matters.
