Maltese basketball referee Bernard Vassallo has been selected as one of the three referees to control the women’s final between Australia and New Zealand today.

The other two referees are Dawna Townsend of Canada dn Olugbenga Omowaiye of Nigeria.

The match is being played in front of a 10,000 sell-out crowd and is being shown live on Australian TV.

Vassallo had earlier controlled two semi-final matches. First he controlled the women’s match between Australia and England, won by the former 101-75, while yesterday he controlled the men’s semi-final between New Zealand and Nigeria, which New Zealand won 90-66.
