Malta Independent Sunday, 9 April 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

A unique exhibition of the Passion of Christ made out of 60,000 matches by Rabat artist Salvinu Bugeja will be on display in the Chapel of St Catald in Rabat’s main square. This laborious project consists of 17 pictures depicting the Via Crucis, our Lady of Sorrows, the Ecce Homo and the Risen Chist.

This original idea was inspired by a conversation Bugeja had with his late father, and it took him nine years to complete. These works of art are going to be exhibited for the first time in the annual Holy Week exhibition organised by the Zghazagh Rabtin Pawlini.

It will be open on Wednesday 12 April from 5pm onwards and on Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Saturday from 9am till noon and from 5pm onwards. It closes on Easter Sunday at noon.

The general public is invited to attend.
