St James Cavalier is organising a series of events to celebrate World Book Day 2006 on Wednesday.

The chairman of St James Cavalier Michael Fenech, and a number of local personalities including TV presenter Peppi Azzopardi and local author Trevor Zahra will attend the launch.

UK celebrity chef Tom Kime will hold a cooking demonstration while presenting his new book, Exploring Taste and Flavour at St James. Artist Pierre Portelli will unveil an installation made of recycled material, which will house hundreds of books. This installation will be used as a library and anyone passing through City Gate is encouraged to take a book to read, for free. This venture was made possible through the collaboration of various local book distributors.

A number of informal sessions between the public and local authors will be organised, giving the public the opportunity to discuss the authors’ works.
