Peter Agius says he lives in office in response to accusations his address is unfinished apartment

PN MEP candidate Peter Agius has hit back at criticism over his registered address listed on the ballot sheet to being an empty apartment block in Mosta, saying that the building is still unfinished but he lives in an office he put on the ground floor of the block.

Agius was replying to media questions during a press conference on Monday, when photos over the weekend were posted showing that his registered address in Triq ir-Rebbiegha, Mosta, was seemingly an uninhabited, unfinished apartment.

He was asked where he lived and slept in Malta, to which he said he lives in his office in Mosta, on the ground floor of his house, which he is still finishing.

The planning application on the property was submitted in 2020, with the property set to be turned into a five-storey structure with a ground floor maisonette, and two duplex apartments.

The planning application also details that the one of the building's two entrances leads to a one-bedroom maisonette with an open-plan kitchen and living area at the entrance to the property.

One of the two entrances on the ground floor which leads to the maisonette is closed off by an aluminium door with Agius' image and his campaign motto "Enerġija Ġdida." (A new energy)

In reaction, the Labour Party condemned the PN for its hypocrisy and arrogance.

It said that the PN took people to court so that they would not be allowed to do what Agius is doing, referring to the Siggiewi case instituted by the PN, where a court found that 99 voters who were registered to an empty apartment block in Siggiewi had been manipulated into making false declarations.

In a video, PN MEP candidate Peter Agius spoke while walking around the office he said is his residence, showing a kitchen and bathroom with a shower. He said that he sold his old home in Attard, which is why he changed his ID card to this location. He said he rented another maisonette in the meantime and has now finished this location, saying this is his official residence.
