Launch Of Blue Flag project

Malta Independent Friday, 21 April 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Nature Trust (Malta), the environmental NGO, in collaboration with the Malta Tourism Authority will be launching the Blue Flag programme today.

Nature Trust is the Maltese representative of the Federation for Environmental Education (FEE) and the Blue Flag will be the second FEE project under way after the highly successful Green Flag – EkoSchool project.

The Blue Flag is the international award for beaches and marinas and is being implemented in over 30 countries, mainly in Europe. The Blue Flag status is acquired by beaches and marinas that respect the environment and human health by providing information on beach on water quality, the provision and servicing of waste separation bins, amenities such as showers and toilet facilities and the presence of life guards and first aid.

Nature Trust (Malta) in collaboration with the MTA will be launching this programme today at the Intercontinental Hotel. The FEE International Blue Flag Coordinator Finn Bolding will be addressing this Blue Flag launch Seminar.

Anyone who would like to attend can contact Nature Trust (Malta) on email info@nature trustmalta.org.
