For the fourth consecutive year, the Mosta Easter football tournament was organised by the E.B. Vella Primary School and Mosta Youth Nursery. This annual appointment is making its roots as one of the major events of the school and the Nursery.
A record number of children took part, nearly 300, of whom 82 girls. These children formed 28 teams, divided in four categories, girls, boys Year 4, boys Year 5, and boys Year 6.
As in the past years the teams were named after different zones and historical places in Mosta. Victoria Lines won the girls’ competition, Fort Mosta won the boys’ Year 4, Sghajtar the boys’ Year 5, and Tal-Wej won the boys’ Year 6 competition.
All participants were given a medal as a token, with the winning teams awarded with a trophy to be kept proudly in their respective classes.
A special praise should be given to Alex Attard, headmaster of the school, and Joseph Muscat from Mosta FC, who organised this event. They received great help from other teachers, and parents who acted as coaches for the 28 teams taking part.
It was another successful event with a big happy family atmosphere, were all children and parents alike enjoyed a wonderful morning of sporting fun.
The sponsors of this activity were the Mosta Local Council and Nectar Ltd.
