The St Joseph Club and De Rohan Band, together with the Rev. Archpriest and Rev. Clergy of Zebbug, Malta, are presenting a musical evening in the parish church of the locality, on 5 May.
Mro Ronnie Debattista will be conducting the Band. The programme starts at 8pm.
The celebration is being presented to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary since the foundation of a special day dedicated to St. Joseph the Worker.
President Edward Fenech Adami will be honouring the event with his patronage.
Musical scores celebrating St Joseph will be performed by the De Rohan Band, with the participation of tenor Joseph Aquilina, baritone Joe Huber and the choir Marie Therese Voice Studio.
The prelude Ilqa’ minn qalbna, (Accept most heartily) by Mro. Joe Galea, Innu ta’ San Guzepp, (A hymn to St. Joseph) a revised edition by Mro Frank Galea of an original piece by a former Italian De Rohan bandmaster Gaetano Emanuel Cali, Antifona lil San Guzepp, (An antiphon to St. Joseph) originally written by Bandmaster Carmelo Pace and presented in a new arrangement by Mro Ronnie Debattista, Cantata San Giuseppe, (Cantata to St. Joseph) a muscial composition by another former De Rohan Bandmaster Orlando Crescimanno, and Innu Popolari lil San Guzepp, (A popular hymn dedicted to St. Joseph) by Mro Ronnie Debattista, are only a few of the works to be presented during the evening.
The programme will also include an Ghanja lil San Guzepp, (A folk-song to St Joseph) sung by the well-known folk-singer Frans Baldacchino il-Budaj, a talk by Rev. Fr Charles Cordina, and a special feature speech by Joe Flask.
The soirée will be compered by Gorg Peresso.
