The Malta Basketball Association has appointed Ms. Trudy Hopgood as assistant coach for the women's national team till the end of July.

The association also confirmed that Carlo Farrugia has tendered his resignation from the post early last week and his resignation was accepted by the MBA. The association thanked Farrugia for his work and dedication throughout the last eight years. Farrugia had worked also together with Santino Coppa for the last four years.

Ms Hopgood is currently working for the MBA through the Commonwealth Volunteer Programme since last January. She will assist head coach Santino Coppa in the preparation for the forthcoming FIBA Promotion Cup to be held in Malta in July.

She is currently in Priolo to discuss the programme of work to be done in the absence of coach Coppa that will lead to the final preparation prior to the tournament.

Coppa is expected to conduct the final stages of the preparation in June. The MBA is looking for the possibility of extending her stay in Malta to help in the preparation of young players.
