Rugby: Mal-Tag Coaching Certificate Presentation

Malta Independent Friday, 5 May 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

Malta’s National Director of Rugby, Damian Neill, and a Director of KMS, presented no fewer than 75 Mal-Tag Coaching Certificates to those who have qualified under the instruction and teaching of the Malta Rugby Football Union, this past season.

This presentation was another step forward in the long term policy plan created by Mr Neill and implemented by Don Hewer, MRFU Development Officer, Robert Portelli, Esther Farrugia, Dave Cutajar and others at junior level.

Mal-Tag, a non-contact skills game, is the first step in the “Rugby Pathway” which brings children to understand and finally play the fastest growing sport in the world, which is Rugby.

Before the spectacular international at Hibs Ground, Malta versus Croatia, “minis” of three age groups from the “MiniGators” and the “Marsa Falcons” gave a fine exhibition of Mal-Tag, which pleased the crowd.

Mal-Tag is now played in most State Schools and the issuing of these Coaching Certificates will assist the spread of understanding of Rugby.

The Malta Rugby Football Union is greatly appreciative of the support from the CEO and Board of KMS.
