Snooker – Acqua Azzurra Tournament

Joe Grech, Simon Camilleri and 15-year-old Thurston Grixti reached the semi-finals of the Acqua Azzurra Pro Am Snooker tournament. The last quarter-final had to be played last night.

In the first quarter-final, Joe Grech beat Peter Schembri 4-2 (66-58, 40-70, 81-15, 71-59, 22-69, 78-8). Grech made a 43 break.

In the second match Thurston Grixti beat Simon Zammit 4-3 (72-62, 82-57, 52-95, 65-75, 75-34, 54-87, 74-38). This match took a good three hours as it was only the last frame that decided the final result in favour of Grixti. Zammit made a 49 break.

In the third quarter-final, Simon Camilleri beat Duncan Bezzina 4-1 (71-8, 66-38, 31-64, 46-36, 64-16). Camilleri made a 43 break.

In the semi-finals, Malta`s No 2 player Joe Grech will now meet 15 year old Thurston Grixti while Malta`s No 6 player Simon Camilleri will meet the winner of the match between the reigning champion Alex Borg and Malta`s No 7 player Clint Grima. The four semi-finalists will pot a total of Lm400 between them.
