People started gathering early at Bay Street last Sunday evening when the complex hosted the largest crowd ever seen within its walls, with hundreds of enthusiastic fans coming to welcome Fabrizio Faniello. A farewell party was held at Bay Street for Fabrizio, who will be representing Malta next week at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest being held in Athens.
The crowd also gave a special welcome to Ira Losco, who was the main guest at the concert in honour of Fabrizio Faniello. The She 2s accompanied Ira’s performance. The great atmosphere created by the hundreds of people crowding the complex lasted throughout the concert, which also featured singers who had participated in the Song for Europe contest held earlier in the year.
Enthusiasm at the complex reached a peak with the arrival of Fabrizio, who made a grand red-carpet entrance to Bay Street’s rotunda where his fans inundated him with requests for his autograph.
Fabrizio thanked the crowd for their warmth and for attending his farewell party and, to the delight of all present, went on to sing I Do – the song with which he will be representing Malta in Athens – along with several other songs from his repertoire.
Following his performance, Fabrizio went on to leave his handprint, along with those of other VIPs, in the Bay Street complex’ s Celebrity Street.
The main sponsors for this event were John’s Garage, Arena Restaurant, Palatino’s Wines and Pedigree Toy Shop.
